8 Holi skin & hair care tips you must not miss - Dr. Sravani Sandhya, Aura Skin & Hair Clinic - Visakhapatnam

Holi is that one colorful day of the year that we all look forward to. With all the Parties,  Bollywood music, delicious food. It’s that time of the year when you play with colors that add joy to your life.

This holi is definitely going to be different, with the novel corona-virus / COVID-19 on high alert, so should you avoid playing holi completely, NO.

People cannot put their lives on hold, nor is it necessary. Celebrate Holi, but maybe you should not celebrate it with thousands of people. Celebrate with close family and friends, avoid big gatherings as far as possible.

As much as we love this awesome festival of colors, we just hate the aftermath. So, before you step out, make sure you have these checks in place. Here are a few tips that will help make your Holi a fun-filled, safe and colorful one.

1.) Use organic colors only:

Going the organic way is the new trend, and it’s time we stop using colors with chemicals. Organic colors are chemical-free, easy to wash off and so much gentler to your skin.

2.) Cover Up :

Always wear clothes that cover your body, to protect it from strong colors.

3.) Apply Coconut Oil:

Coconut oil is that one miracle product that’ll get you out of every kind of beauty dilemma.before you head out for the day, make sure to lather on your choice of coconut oil on your hair, as well as your body. It’ll make getting cleaned up twice as easy.

4.) Don’t wait for the colors to dry:

Once you’re home, don’t let the colors stay on for too long, take a shower immediately. Use a gentle shampoo to clean your hair, a soft face wash to wash your face and a non-alkaline cleanser to wash your body. It’ll leave your skin feeling clean and refreshed without over-drying it.

5.) Do not use abrasive scrubs or kerosene to wash colors off:

More often than not, it's not the color that much, but the chemicals used in washing away those colors that damage the skin more.Have patience. It's not bad to let it show that you had played Holi the previous day. The residual colors will slowly fade.

6.) Sunscreen is good for you:

Keep using the sunscreen for two more weeks after holi at frequent intervals. Your skin is likely to remain sensitive, especially for people who are known to have allergic conditions. If you develop a rash over the next couple of day, please visit your dermatologist as soon as possible.

7.) Stay Hydrated:

Dehydration causes skin to dry out and this, along with the added chemicals you’re dealing with on holi, can cause skin damage. As you will be spending most of the time outdoors in the sun, it’s always good to drink more water.

8.) Moisturize well:

Use a generous amount of moisturizer on your entire body after taking a shower. This will help get rid of roughness and make sure your skin stays glowing, all day long.
